SOME GIRLS WHO....JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN....IN AN EXCITING COSTA RICA ADVENTURE!!

Allegro Papagayo

Gayle said, Kathy St John and her friends Jackie Heckert, Cheryl Krimmer and Adele Thompson went on an exciting trip to Costa Rica.  Jackie thought Costa Rica was a lot like Mexico.  The resort, food, drinks and men were all wonderful but very similar.

Kathy told Gayle it was the best trip she was ever on, and she has traveled all over.   People were fantastic in Costa Rica.  Everyone was so nice and the friendliest people she ever met.  Kathy said she felt at home and very safe there.  It was so clean and immaculate at the Allegro Papagayo in the Guanacaste area.

Edwardo from CAT TOURS went above and beyond for the girls.  She said Cat Tours really represented First Choice Travel well while she was out of the country.

I thought it was a great trip, but I did think it was a bit secluded. The hotel was nice.  I liked the country, the people at the hotel were great and the weather was great. We had fun in Chicago too!
We did take a boat ride to Coco beach and there were a bunch of dolphins swimming around the boat and we took a boat ride on the river.

2 COUPLES CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARIES ON VACATION!

Hey Girlfriend......
WE LOVED IT!!!!!!!!  Best time ever.  The resort was great, so easy to get around.  It is very well thought out.  Gayle, thank you for the room location.  We were in the perfect side of the building.  The only thing that would have made it better is if we would been on a higher floor.  The view was perfect.  You always come through!!!!!

We all had the best time.  The country is unbelievable.

We only went on one tour, but it was from 7:30 AM to 11:00 at night.  We saw such great sights.  The roads are really rough and that explains the time in travel, but it was well worth it.  The pool was the best ever.....what a pool bar.  We made very good use of it.  The food was very good and we ate lots of fresh seafood, veggies and fruit.  Best part was I did not gain any weight.  We walked and played hard.  I was not a fan of the sand, I don't like the way it sticks to me.  Must be the ash that is mixed in.  Even with that little problem, I would not have changed a thing.

I just wanted to drop you a email so you know we loved it. We all loved Costa Rica.  Can't wait til next year.

Thank you so much for another trip filled with only GOOD TIMES!  I will add more comments later!!!!!!!!!

Costa Rica adventure for these two!

Gayle,

Trip to Costa Rica was very good.
We got a break from the rain and were able to see the Arenal volcano.  We didn't take any extra tours, (there were some already included in the package) though we did visit the reptile facility and the zoo.

Thanks for setting up our vacation.
Ron and Anne Erhardt

This is not a JOKE!

Ron sent us this picture of a 2 headed Koati???
I don't know if he was kidding me or not.
We will have to ask him.

RIU GUANACASTE

Gayle,

Love the country, great people. Hotel was perfect great food great set up. Loved the zip lining and the tour. Went into town on a boat $20 per person from a local. Little to secluded for my tastes, are there other resorts down there that are closer to more towns? We are more than happy with our trip, its just what we needed, I would go there again!!!

The Famous ZIP LINE TOUR IN COSTA RICA!

Hello Pat,

Thank you again for your help in getting me and my husband to Costa Rica.  We had a fabulous time.  The Apple representatives were excellent.  Getting from the airport to our hotel and back was so easy.  That is usually a point of stress when going on vacation.  Absolutely no worries this time.
I've attached a couple of pictures for you.  Some of our beach area and hotel/villas and one of my husband during the canopy tour.

It was a blast and we definitely look forward to going back with our kids next time!!!

Have a great day!!  Staci and Rich Neidert

More Adventurous Zip Liners celebrating a SPECIAL 25th ANNIVERSARY!!!!  What a way to go!

Stayed at the Grand Papagayo in Costa Rica:

Hi Pat,

Gwen and I had a great time.  The oceanview room and the resort were awesome.  We had a wonderful view of the ocean from our rooms verandah.  The food was the best of any all inclusive that we have ever seen.  The people and service was amazing.

Our tours of the volcano and rainforest and the hot springs were very enjoyable.  The night was foggy, so we didn't get to see the volcano erupt, but it was still a spectacular trip.    After the first few runs on the canopy tour, Gwen who is afraid of heights, really settled in and totally enjoyed the ziplining experience.

All your guidance and recommendations for the trip, led us to a wonderful 25th anniversary vacation experience.  Thanks again for all your personal recommendations.  It was wonderful having an agent that had been there, done that.

We are both looking forward to our next vacation with you and First Choice travel.

Best Regards, Gary and Gwen Heath

HONEYMOONERS in COSTA RICA at the RIU GUANACASTE

Hi Gayle,

Costa Rica was awesome!!! The weather was perfect, beautiful views and excellent service. The only thing that I regret is not booking the sunset cruise early. We attempted to go on that however the 3 different places they called that provide the service for them were all full...oh well some other trip right?!!?

We did the zip lining - loved it! Shawn who is afraid of heights hung upside down on the line with his hands just hanging above his head not holding on!

We went horseback riding, which was fun the guide let us canter and go somewhat on our own.

Did the mud bath/hot springs. The mud bath was definitely different and the hot springs was interesting.

We also went ATVing thru the mountains and some small rivers. this one was nice because it was just Shawn, myself and the tour guide. Saw a ton of different monkeys hanging in the trees.

That was all in two days of the trip the rest we relaxed. Which was needed :)

The hotel was very nice. The staff was very attentive in all the restaurants and bars. The CAT representative was very helpful as well. Definitely would recommend it to someone else!

After staying at an all inclusive resort Shawn and I are debating on if a cruise is the right choice or if we find a resort instead...but that will all depend on if the cruises that are all inclusive are at a reasonable price.

Thanks,
Tracy and Shawn

CUSTOM COSTA RICA TOUR

Gayle,

We had an awesome time in Costa Rica - we enjoyed each and every aspect of the trip (some more than others).  And, yes, CAT was accomodating with changing our tours - at every place we asked a lot of questions to the hotel staff, guides, and locals about our tours (pluses and minuses) before we went - and based on those responses, we added, changed or subtracted tours.  Fortunately, most places had internet access, so I could email Daisy.

As for CAT tours, I realized they are just a "middle-man".  The only person we met from CAT was Maria Elena at San Jose airport (for about 5-10minutes) - the rest of the tours were done by local people at each destination.  CAT I am sure has deals with the resorts & tours that you can't get.  Our transfers were usually by taxi/van - and the drivers spoke minimal English.  The best tours were the small tours - however, some were bigger (and it was always a bummer when we had to go to another 5 hotels to pick people up as the distances and timing took a chunk of time out the day).

And yes, we enjoyed having the Bergmans along with us - they were loads of fun.

Here's a breakdown of the highlights:

San Jose:  Marriott - beautiful, very good food, excellent grounds (hiking, pool, golf)

Tortugero: Picked up at 5:50, but didn't leave San Jose until after 7:30am as we had lots of people spread throughout the city to pick up on the 20 passenger minibus.  Trip stopped for breakfast (really good) and then we transferred to a boat (down a hill) with all our stuff which was difficult for some people - then a 90 minute boat ride to Laguna Lodge.  Welcome reception and orientation - rooms comfortable, but noisy from staff and guests (no air conditioning as expected, had to buy shampoo and soap from front desk).  Lots of birds and Howler monkeys on site.  Beautiful Caribbean beach.  Guided tours on premises.  Food all buffet style which was included and was okay.  Watched 4th quarter of Packers beating Bears on only TV on site in bar (in Spanish) - lots of fun.  Boat trips were exciting - guides were great spotters.

Arenal: Only day we saw entire volcano was upon arrival at The Springs - What an amazing place - one of the best resorts I have ever been at!  Free $250 credit oat spa, 20 hot spring pools.  Food very good.  We were told the Cano Negro trip would be 2 hours there and back and sites very very similar to Tortugero, so we changed to the Waterfall Hiking Tour which was fun.  Driver took us to town for an hour or so afterwards.  Did the volcano hiking tour another day which was fun too.

Monteverde:  Did the Taxi-Boat-Taxi method of getting there.  An hour on windy, bumpy road.  El Establo was basic - one restaurant good, the other one always filled with busloads of people.  Lots to do on site at El Establo - walking, hiking, and easy to walk to town.  Monteverde Reserve Tour outstanding, but too many in our group (10 people).  Guides set up spotting scopes to see the wildlife (and yes, we saw a Quetzal) - many tours had only 2-6 people.  Did a hanging bridge tour follow by a zip line trip that was amazing (and scary).

Quepos: Gaia Hotel was John Bergman's favorite - also awesome place.  Free daily spa treatments of 30min per person.  Food very very good.  Rooms were huge and had all the bells and whistles.  Manuel Antonio National park was nice, but over crowded with all the locals (lots of beaches and kids off school) and lots of tourists.  Again tour had too many people for one guide, so we often wandered off on our own and I got lots of great photos.  Hotel offered guided tour of its property every moring at 7am - lots of flora and fauna.  Took a river rafting trip with Bergmans - awesomeness!!!! Again this was recommended by the hotel concierge.   Sunsets breathtaking.

Dominical: Cuna Del Angel was very basic - definitely no where near the beauty of The Springs and Gaia.  If I had known that Gaia Hotel was only 35 minutes to Cuna Del Angel Hotel, I would have stayed at Gaia Hotel and not made the transfer.  The day trips to Cano Island would have been the same at Corcovado (except for snorkling), so we opted out of Cano Island.  Lots of driving to get to the boat launch so we could boat to Corcovado.  Had early transfer (6am) only so we could pick others up and then wait for an hour at the boat for more to arrive (this transfer was the lowlite of the trip).   Park was remote and beautiful - probably my favorite park as the flora and fauna amazing - and not crowded (except our group had 12 people which was twice the amount any other tour group had that we saw).  We traded Cano ISland trip for a Whale Watching and Dolphin tour - saw both (again too many people on boat - other boats we saw had much fewer people to move around and take photos).

To recap:  Awesome trip - thank you.  Highlights: The Springs and Gaia Resorts, Monteverde & Tortugero & Corcovado National Parks, rafting, zipping, boating, hiking.   Lowlights: too many people booked on some tours and too much waiting/driving for others on the tours.

I would highly recommend this trip for anyone interested in seeing all of Costa Rica.

I will send photos once I sort through 1500 of them.

Jeff

I take it .....they loved it and have lots of photos to share and remember this adventure Costa Rica trip forever!  Gayle

Gayle Zielke, president of First Choice Travel and Cruise will try anything once for the sake of her clients adventure vacations! From the smile on her face I bet you think she enjoyed herself on this zipline trip in Costa Rica.  Look closer and see she is really hugging the tree for dear life on a very tiny platform.  Take a look on the zipline guide's face as he wipes his brow.  I think she held onto him way too tightly.

Gayle said that she was glad she did it but since she is afraid of heights she wasn't sure why she said yes to Greg Ludwig from Funjet to attempt this adventure!!  Those Funjet people can talk her into trying anything once!

Everyone should try the zip line adventure in Costa Rica at least once in their lifetime!
